Well Thats Just Prime

I will start this off by say I'm back and will be blogging on a more semi regular basis and second that the blog is going from a Gaming to Pop/Nerd Culture blog and now on with are show

Now this month GameInformer's cover story was on the recently announced War for Cybertron (read the review here )  sequal Fall of Cybertron. I was really shocked with this and I followed the coverage closely through the hub at gameinformer.com. Now this is awesome and I looking forward to the game but what got me really exited was that the dinobots will be playable in this game. Now I don't know about you but for that alone I'm sold. here is my fav cover art for this GameInformer

So with this I headed to my favorite wiki for all things Transformers TFWiki.net and I looked up WFC and saw that it falls in canon with the New Hub cartoon Transformers Prime and what being called Aligned continuity family. This canon includes may things The Games WFC and FOC, the novels by Alex Irvine, and the Prime Cartoon. I really like this attempt at this I however dislike the novels and I'll limit it to just the 1st one Exodus the only one i bothered to read. Now I ask these be removed for 3 simple reasons
1. after the 1st 15 chapters the book gets into the WFC story and they don't match up at all.
2. the continuity errors in the book itself  example at the end of chapter six, Orion Pax has traveled to Kaon to meet Megatron. At the start of the next chapter, when the terrorist bombs go off, he is specifically described as being back in Iacon and speaking to Megatron remotely over a videolink
3. he has mixed and matched canons from G1, the movie, and other shows
I wont say that the story wasn't good but I will say that it didn't work when I was reading it hoping for the Game's story but with greater detail. That is not what I got. Now what I would do here is throw out the books but keep one little bit of the story and that's the friendship of Optimus and Megatron making them both the leader of a group of rebels who only wish to seek freedom from a tyrannical caste system. And the fall of that friendship when Optimus is revealed as a prime and Megatron a mad bot. Now that's the end of that rant.

Next on the topic of Transformers I want to talk about the toys. The FOC news caused me to find my Generations WFC Figures. Now it was announced that WFC would have a tie in toy line shortly after the game however it didn't get a line of it's own and was tied in to the Generations line with these 5 figures

Now this does not a toy line make and you might be say but Cliff Jumper wasn't in WFC and you be right if you played on Xbox 360 or PS3 he was on the DS version and will be in FOC just with his Prime Incarnations head. and out side the head he is a repaint of Bumblebee. Now with FOC coming out next year and the Prime toy line hitting stores now I ask this of Hasbro. Make a sub-line FOC and make all the characters but i also ask for voyager sizes as well. this should work because their are not counting the five shown above their are four more charters who are in both.

Now I'll move on to the new show Transformers: Prime on the Hub I only just started watching it and I'm having to DVR season 1 as it just finished. I like it so far it is deep with out being confusing. Now that being said I have one complainant and that is why does bumblebee not have a voice. I understand that the movie did that and I didn't like it there either I take this time to blame Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman (most  ppl like to blame Bay for movie realted TF problem I blame them) how hard would it be to write lines for Bumblebee and cast Johnny Yong Bosch or Ian James Corlett (voice of Cheetor in BW) or Bumper Robinson (animated BB) or Dan Gilvezan (G1 BB)  I could see any of these working really well. I'm calling it a day though the Moves are over Transformers it self is still as big as ever.
