And I'll Form the Awesome: Voltron Legendary Defender season 2 Review/Reaction
Taking a break The Legend of Zelda profiles I decided to watch something I've been waiting for all winter. Voltron: Legendary Defender season 2 is now live on Netflix, and I've watched it to completion. So sit back as I review and react to season 2.
Let me start off by saying I'm going to keep this review mostly spoiler free. I will mention devices used in the plot vaguely without giving detail if you view this as a spoiler sorry not sorry. To explain I don't view an event or knowledge of a reveal a spoiler when you have no context. Here is an example Illidan Stormrage being involved in World of Warcraft: Legion is not a spoiler, However I know some of you get butt hurt over that crap so this is the warning.

Voltron: Legendary Defender is back and it didn't disappoint. The season starts with a quick recap of the end of last season. This is not a narrative recap like DBZ but instead shows events and then proceeds to follow the characters after this event. the season from this point starts doing two thing world building and and character development. This section is slow but does a lot to expand how this universe works. The plot then picks up and works toward the end game. It's during this end game game prep that one of the 1st big plot reveal that changes character's actions. The end game prep is also used to build tension toward the end. Speaking of the end whoa this is awesome. The end game is huge with a lot of big moments and jaw dropping scenes. The only complaint I have is the lack of more Robeast and robeast fights. While Voltron does see a lot of actions this season seems to mostly be about the individual lions growing in power. Overall this season was good it did an awesome job of build on what the 1st season had done. The growth of the charter while nice for some felt forced. Examples of this being Hunk and Lance. Their growth is well fast and almost forced it seems. while other character like Keith and Shiro are more fleshed out. All in all if you enjoyed season one then you will enjoy this season as well. I highly recommend you go and check out Voltron: Legendary Defender.

Ok so after watching the season there are three huge elephants in the room with the show. I will cover them in the order they occur. Also if you're reading this please note I gave a warning. The 1st elephant was the revealed that Keith is part Galra. During the early end game prep we are introduced to a secret order of Galra called the Blade of Marmora. These member possess a blade with a symbol on it that is the same as the on on Keith's knife. Ok with these revelation Allura turns cold to Keith as she has been adamantly against allying with the Galar. Her hate here borders on racism however because of the story it never crosses. Eventually this minor conflict is resolved by Allura apologizing and releasing the error of her actions leading to Keith saying there was no reason to apologize. This was a huge thing as they fed the shippers by giving them shared development. The next two Elephants are both during the ending of the season I'll start with the one that came out of nowhere. During the last fight to protect Voltron Allura and the Blade lead an attack on the druids helping Zarkon. During the Fight with Haggar we learn that she is in fact Altaian like Allura and Coran. This honestly is just lingering question for future seasons but it was a nice surprise. The least elephant in the room might technically be two thing but are both done in the last scene. After retrieving His weapon, unlocking Black lions true power, and defeating Zarkon's mech armor Shiro is missing. The other paladins rush into the black lion after carrying it in to find their leader missing. I HATE THIS. ok it is better than him being killed off and trust me this season hinted at him being killed so much, however they also built his character up so much by having him strengthen his bond with the black lion. This feels like a cop out to put the team at a status quo and have Keith lead in black, Lance take red, and Allura blue. Time will only tell what happens next because as of this writing (1/20/2017) Season 3 has not been announced. The last part is the fact that Haggar asks for Prince Lotor to be summoned. This made me smile as it is a great way to build tension for the next season it also can be seen as status quo as well.I'm curious about the introduction of Lotor but also what will happen to Shiro is he dead or just lost. The season was great but if they are just trying to achieve status quo then this show has fallen off the path they built in the last season plus all the merch has Shiro as black lion pilot. I still very much love this show it great but I want it to be great without being Defender of the Universe.
