In the News: 11 U.S. States vs Gaming and Kinect Has a Price
So I was looking around G4TV.com yesterday and I stumbled across this Article that states that Connecticut had joined with California and many others states in a supreme Court cases about a law that would Ban the sale of M rated games to minors. I laughed about this for a little bit mostly because every time I have bought a M rated game I've been asked my age and that the ESRB defines M rated games as not suitable for any one under the age of 16.
This is just another attempted for law maker to look good but they are ignoring what they really should be doing. I openly hope that the supreme court rules against this law. I also Advise parents to look pay attention to what their kids play stop buying your 8 year old GTA. The ESRB is there for a reason so use it. Parents you don't let your kids watch R rated movies then why do you let them play M rated games.
here is my reminder to everyone what the ratings on game mean and how they relate to move ratings
eC - Early Childhood - these are those developmental games like leap frog they are a kind to nick Jr type shows.
E - Everyone - these games are general games a that are more cartoon like while they will have violence in them they will not be graphic. they are like G rated moves
E10 - Everyone 10 and up - these game are like E game but they game be darker and at time have more realistic violence. They are also know for stronger language. these would relate to PG movies
T - Teen - these game have strong amount of violence, language, and Light mature subject mater and are not recommended for any one under the age of 13. these types of games are simular to PG-13 movies
M - Mature - these games Have Heavy amounts of Violence Language and sexual references simple are that. they are like R rated movies.
AO - Adults Only - these game are very similar to M but the sexual content is fart more graphic. Examples and M rated game like god of war has sex and nudity in it but you never see sexual act. An AO game (I had to look up this game) BoneTown depicts graphic sexual act like out of a porn movie. These games are only sold online are rarely for any console and are similar to a NC-17 movie
RP - Rating Pending- you will never see a game with this in stories but their are on several game trailers. all this means is that the game has not yet received a rating.
I hope this clears thing up and parents learn to watch what their kids are playing.
